IHC Isaac's 1962 IH I-H

 BC170 4x4

Note: I sold this truck in February 2003. I'm keeping this page up so people with BC series trucks can find some fellow owners and resources.

Welcome to my International Harvester web page. I created this page to show people my truck and to trade information about the International Harvester BC series. If you know anything about the BC series, please e-mail me.

I bought the beast in December of 1998. It used to be a wildland fire truck (a.k.a. brush truck) for the California Department of Forestry in Tehama County, California. The previous owner bought it at an auction without being able to test drive it. When he got it home, he found out the front pinion was completely stripped. He didn't feel like fixing it, so he advertised it in a local newspaper and I bought it. Other than the pinion, the truck is in great condition.

Work I've done so far:

  • Tune up. Including oil, filter, plugs, cap, rotor, points, condenser, and full chassis lube.

  • New rubber fuel lines and fuel filter.

  • I got rid of all the abandoned and dangling wires under the dashboard from when the fire equipment was removed. I also added two new fuse blocks and replaced and labeled some of the other wiring that was in bad condition.

  • Replaced the Hydrovac brake booster and bled the brakes.

  • Installed a rebuilt starter.
